Paul Pugh graduated from West Seattle High School 1945 and from Whitman College in 1951. He became a school teacher in the Wenatchee School District in 1951 and was Principal at Orchard Jr. High School from 1964 to 1982. During that time, he also worked at KPQ Radio as News Editor from 1953-54.
In 1982, he and his wife began a travel agency called 3 Ring Tours. Over the years they have traveled to over 55 countries around the world.
The Wenatchee Youth Circus originally started as an after school tumbling group at Ellison Jr. High in 1952. The group of about 50 boys and girls began giving short programs at basketball games and pep assemblies. In it’s history, the Circus has traveled from Anchorage, Alaska to El Paso, Texas.....from San Diego, Calif. to Fort Collins , Colorado and throughout British Columbia. This year marks their 57th year of travels and will perform in Wenatchee July 27 – 29, 2009 at Walla Walla Point Park.
Among his numerous awards are the 1955 Jr. Chamber of Commerce Young Man of the Year; 1963 Chamber of Commerce Golden Apple Award; 1962 Outstanding Young Man of the Year for the State Jr. Chamber; 2002 Wenatchee’s Living Treasure Award; 2003 West Seattle High School Hall of Fame
Paul and his wife Karen have been married for 34 years and he is thrilled to be the Youth Parade Grand Marshal this year!!
