Candidate Addie Holliday
Addie is the daughter of Mike & Carol Holliday. Addie is a member of Chamber Singers, Hyland Kids Singers, and the Hy-Tones girls quartet at her school. She has also played parts in the last three school musicals. Last year, she went to Costa Rica as part of her church youth group’s mission trip and also plays guitar and sang on her church worship team. Addie works at Eastmont Pharmacy and enjoys reading, watching movies, and listening to music in her spare time.
Addie’s favorite TV show is Gilmore Girls and her favorite movie is Return to Me. She has too many favorite songs to list, but her favorite recording artists are Colbie Collait, Michael Buble’, and Josh Groban and her favorite novel is The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks. She is most inspired by her teacher, Mrs. Kris Cameron and her most treasured keepsake is her baby blanket. After graduation, Addie plans to attend Wenatchee Valley College to receive her AA degree and attend The School of Therapeutic Touch to receive her Massage Therapy license, then transfer to a four year college to major in business.
Addie’s favorite things to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom Events, are biking, walking, swimming and picnicking on the Loop Trail. Her proudest moment in life is when she stepped onto her high school stage as a Freshman to successfully audition for her first musical. If Addie could trade places with anyone, for a day, she would trade places with Taylor Swift. Addie feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Festival because she is outgoing, caring, and is a leader. She can relate and talk with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Candidate Laurie Bazan
Laurie is the daughter of Jaime and Maria Bazan. Laurie is serving in her third year as the President of Mariachi Huenachi and is a member of the Running Start program. She also works in the after school program at Pioneer Middle School as a violin instructor. In her spare time, she enjoys playing soccer and the violin and dancing a traditional Cumbias dance with her father.
Laurie’s favorite movies are Gifted Hands and The Ben Carson Story and her favorite song is “More Beautiful You” by Jonny Diaz. Her favorite novel is The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. She is most inspired by her mother and her most treasured keepsake is her first baby blanket. After graduation, Laurie plans to attend the University of Washington and pursue a career in the medical field.
Laurie’s favorite thing to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom, is play Indoor/Recreational Soccer. Her proudest moment in life was when she attended a conference at Washington State University and performed with Mariachi Huenachi. That performance was the first time she sang in front of a crowd. If Laurie could trade places with anyone for a day, she would trade places with a missionary doctor. Laurie feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Festival because she wants to be a role model to the youth in her community and because she can bring diversity and representation to everyone in the Valley.
Candidate Katelin Toevs
Katelin is the daughter of Ken & Daina Toevs. Katelin is a member of Jazz Choir, Honor Society and Natural Helpers. She has also been involved in various Music Theatre of Wenatchee productions. In her spare time, Katelin enjoys playing the guitar, singing, and working out.
Katelin’s favorite TV shows are Glee and So You Think You Can Dance and her favorite movies are Juno and Legally Blonde. Her favorite song is ”Guardian Angel” by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and her favorite novel is Love Walked In by Marisa De Los Santos. She is most inspired by her grandmother, Phyllis Goecke, and her most treasured keepsake is a pillowcase her grandmother made for her. After graduation, Katelin plans to attend a four-year university in the Pacific Northwest.
Katelin’s favorite things to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom Events are snowboarding at Mission Ridge, river rafting, and walking on the Loop Trail. Her proudest moment in life was singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with the jazz combo because she made the song her own and felt successful. If Katelin could trade places with anyone, for one day, she would trade places with Ellen DeGeneres. Katelin feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Festival because of the span of her community involvement – from Music Theatre of Wenatchee to Wenatchee Valley LaCrosse to family-owned orchards and farms.
Candidate Holly Gale
Holly is the daughter of Tracey & Dan Yedinak and Andy & Heidi Gale. Holly is captain of the Varsity Volleyball team and plays on the Varsity Tennis team. She is also President of Honor Society and a Natural Helper Senior Trainer at her school. In her spare time, Holly enjoys spending time with family, biking and playing rec. volleyball.
Holly’s favorite TV show is That 70’s Show and her favorite movie is Pirates of the Caribbean. Her favorite song is “Move Along” by The All-American Rejects and her favorite novel is Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. She is most inspired by her brother, Nick, and her most treasured keepsakes are her Precious Moments figures. After graduation, Holly plans to attend a four-year university and major in Health Science.
Holly’s favorite things to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom Events, are going boating, biking, working out, and spending time with her friends and family. Her proudest moment in life was backpacking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon when she was 12 years old, staying two nights, and hiking back out on the third day. If Holly could trade places with anyone for one day, she would trade places with professional volleyball player Misty May Treanor. Holly feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Festival because she has grown up around the fruit industry and has experienced and appreciates the hard work it takes to get the fruit from the tree to the warehouse and to our homes.
Candidate Brianna Hibbard
Brianna is the daughter of Verne & Linda Hibbard. Brianna is a Running Start student and the Editor of her school’s yearbook. She is also a member of the Wenatchee Wild Dance Team and a Co-Captain for the Wenatchee Venom Dance Team. Brianna is also a figure skater and has won many figure skating awards including the Edward Kriskovic Memorial Award. In her spare time, Brianna loves to spend time with her friends and family and enjoys working at Fred Meyer.
Brianna’s favorite TV show is So You Think You Can Dance and her favorite movie is Role Models. Her favorite song is “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus and her favorite novel is Island of the Blue Dolphin by Stephanie Meyers. She is most inspired by her mother and her most treasured keepsake is her Faith necklace. Brianna will graduate from high school with her AA Degree and plans to attend a four-year university and enter a Veterinary Medicine program.
Brianna’s favorite thing to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom Events, is to enjoy our beautiful mountains. Her proudest moment in life was winning First Place at the Figure Skating Regional Championships in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. If Brianna could trade places with anyone for a day, she would trade places with Taylor Swift. Brianna feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Festival because she could make a difference in the community and she is very driven and motivated in achieving her goals.
Candidate Monica Sanchez
Monica is the daughter of Alfonso & Olga Sanchez. Monica is a Running Start student and in the Health Occupations program at her school. She is also the Senior Class Secretary and played on the JV Soccer Team. In her spare time, Monica enjoys working at her job at Taco Time and using her communication skills.
Monica’s favorite TV show is Tom & Jerry and her favorite movie is P.S. I Love You. Her favorite song is “She Will Be Loved” by Maroon 5 and her favorite novel is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. She is most inspired by her parents and her most treasured keepsakes are her photos and letters. After graduation, Monica plans to attend Wenatchee Valley College to get her AA degree then transfer to a four-year university and eventually medical school in hopes of becoming a pediatrician.
Monica’s favorite things to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom Events, are hiking Saddlerock, enjoying the parks, and going to movies. Her proudest moment in life is the day her younger sister was born. Her sister’s birth helped Monica to create higher standards and goals for herself. If Monica could trade places with anyone for one day, she would trade places with Mother Theresa. Monica feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Festival because she cares about issues such as racism, discrimination, and gangs and she wants to make a difference in people’s lives.
Candidate Lauren Ferguson
Lauren is the daughter of Daryl & Kim Ferguson. Lauren is her school’s Activity Coordinator and an AVID student tutor. She is also a member of Honor Society and takes AP classes in English and Calculus. Lauren is a member of a Competition Dance Team through a local dance studio and has attended many national competitions. She also volunteers for Relay for Life and Catholic Family & Child Services. In her spare time, Lauren likes to travel, read, and spend time with her friends.

I Am Sam. Her favorite song is “Keep It Loose, Keep It Tight” by Amos Lee and her favorite novel is Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult. She is most inspired by her mother and her most treasured keepsake is a collage mirror made by her best friends. After graduation, Lauren plans to attend either Gonzaga University or Seattle University and major in Business.
Lauren’s favorite things to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom Events, are swimming, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends. Her proudest moment in life was performing in and helping to organize the 2009 Janice Franz Talent Show, which raised over $20,000 for a local family. If Lauren could trade places with anyone for one day, she would trade places with an astronaut. Lauren feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Festival because she would do so whole-heartedly and she is proud of the place she calls “home”.
Candidate Margaret Robinson
Margaret is the daughter of Steve & Julie Robinson. Margaret is the Editor of her school newspaper and takes AP Classes in Human Geography, Statistics, and English Literature. She is a four-year member of her school’s Swim & Dive Team and takes private voice lessons. Margaret has helped raise money for the March of Dimes through the local Donkey Basketball event and helps collect food and clothing for the Bruce Hotel transitional housing program. In her spare time, Margaret enjoys hiking, camping, skiing, and traveling.
Margaret’s favorite TV show is Gilmore Girls and her favorite movie is The Notebook. She has many favorite songs and loves many different kinds of music, but her favorite recording artist is Brad Paisley and her favorite novel is Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. She is most inspired by her grandmother, Anne Caldwell, and her most treasured keepsake is Clarence, her childhood teddy bear. After graduation, Margaret plans to attend a four-year university and possibly major in Communications and International Relations.
Margaret’s favorite things to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom Events, are hiking in the Enchantments and watching the sun rise from the top of Saddlerock. Her proudest moment in life is the first distribution of her school’s newspaper, of which she is Editor-in-Chief. If Margaret could trade places with anyone for a day, she would trade places with Blake Mycoskle, the founder of TOMS shoes. Margaret feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Festival because she has worked hard throughout high school and would be a good, genuine role model for others and because she would be honored to represent our community throughout the State of Washington.
Candidate Mindy Howard
Mindy is the daughter of Dave & Jeri Howard. Mindy is a member of the Varsity Soccer team and was voted Most Inspirational this past season. She has also earned a Scholar Athlete Award for both Soccer and Track. Mindy has participated in Relay for Life and works at River West Assisted Living. In her spare time, Mindy enjoys skiing and snowboarding, sewing, and listening to country music.
Mindy’s favorite TV show is American Idol and her favorite movie is A Walk to Remember. Her favorite song is “Then” by Brad Paisley and her favorite novel is The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares. She is most inspired by her father and her most treasured keepsake is her grandmother’s engagement ring. After graduation, Mindy plans to attend Wenatchee Valley College for two years to play soccer, then transfer to the University of Hawaii and major in Design.
Mindy’s favorite things to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom Events, are skiing and snowboarding at Mission Ridge. Her proudest moment in life was being voted Most Inspirational by her Varsity Soccer team. If Mindy could trade places with anyone, for one day, she would trade places with a tour guide in Greece. Mindy feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Festival because she is proud to be from Wenatchee and proud of everything Wenatchee stands for. Although she has always dreamed of going out and seeing the world, she knows that Wenatchee is the place she wants to come home to.
Candidate Kelsey Mayer
Kelsey is the daughter of Harlan &Shirley Mayer. Kelsey is the ASB President of her school. She is also a Natural Helper and plays on her school’s soccer team. She has helped with the United Way School Supply Giveaway and the Red Cross Blood Drive. In her spare time, Kelsey enjoys reading, rock climbing and having “girl’s night out” with her friends.

Her favorite song is “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell and her favorite novel is Premonitions by Jude Watson. She is most inspired by her mother and her most treasured keepsake is a collage made by her sister, Katie, for her Sweet Sixteen. After graduation, Kelsey plans to attend a four-year university to major in Nursing or Physical Therapy and minor in Spanish.
Kelsey’s favorite thing to do in the Wenatchee Valley, besides Apple Blossom Events, is hiking Saddlerock. Her proudest moment in life was being chosen to attend Natural Helpers as a senior trainer. If Kelsey could trade places with anyone for one day, she would trade places with one of President Obama’s children. Kelsey feels she should represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Festival because she wants to be more involved in promoting what the Wenatchee Valley has to offer.
