2010 AWARDS - 6 pies and 7 desserts turned in
- Best Presentation and $50, goes to Hannah Miller from Wenatchee, for her “Family Apple Pie”. She uses 6 cups of Granny Smith apples and 6 cups of Braeburn apples.
- 2nd place, winning an apple dip dish and $75, goes to Lorraine Mathison’s “Golden Delicious Apple Pie”. She used 5 Golden apples and a lot of love.
- The grand prize-winner in the pie division wins an apple trivet and $100. The winner is Avis Scharlau from Wenatchee for her “Apple Crumb Pie” and she used half golden delicious and half fuji’s along with a little sour cream.
Dessert Division:
- Best Presentation and $50 goes to Ann Mulligan of East Wenatchee for “Ann Mulligan’s Apple Cake”. She uses Granny Smith and Braeburn apples, freshly ground spices, hazelnuts, raisins, and just a little bit of bourbon. It was beautifully frosted and decorated with braeburn apples, toasted hazelnuts, and apple jelly.
- 2nd place, the apple dipping bowl and $75 goes to Cheryl Adkins of Wenatchee for her “Apple Oatmeal Bars”. She used 7 Jonagold apples and oatmeal & brown sugar in the crust and topping. This was her mother’s recipe from a Homemaker’s Club she belonged to in the 1940’s.
- 1st place, the apple trivet, and $100 goes to Avis Scharlau from Wenatchee and her “Apple Cheesecake”. She used half fuji’s, half golden’s, nuts, and caramel ice cream in the topping.
